Perubar strengthens its environmental commitment by operating 100% with certified renewable energy

During 2024, the company sustained all its operations with clean energy, consolidating its leadership in sustainability within the mining logistics sector.

Perubar was awarded the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) for operating throughout 2024 using exclusively electric energy from renewable sources. This milestone confirms the company’s commitment to sustainability and the country’s energy transition.

The energy supply was provided by Kallpa Generación, a company that operates hydropower plants with international standards of quality and sustainability. Perubar’s energy consumption was audited and verified by the I-REC system, a global organization that ensures the traceability of clean energy used, certifying its renewable origin.

The certificate was presented during an institutional meeting attended by Diego Garrido-Lecca, General Manager, and Diego Espinoza, Administration and Finance Manager of Perubar. Representing Kallpa Generación were Ricardo Aguilar, Deputy Commercial Manager, and Mayumi Varona, Commercial Analyst.

“This certification reflects our commitment to increasingly sustainable operations. At Perubar, we work to reduce our environmental footprint and adopt cleaner energy sources, aligning with global standards and the challenges of the mining-logistics sector,” said Diego Garrido-Lecca, General Manager of Perubar.

Perubar is part of the Glencore Group, one of the world’s leading players in natural resources. In Peru, the company leads in logistics services for the storage, blending, conditioning, and shipping of mineral concentrates, operating with high standards of efficiency, safety, and environmental care.
“Supporting companies like Perubar, which are committed to renewable sources and more sustainable processes, is part of our value proposition,”said Irwin Frisancho, representative of Kallpa Generación.

Obtaining this international certification strengthens Perubar’s position as a company committed to sustainability, reaffirming its purpose to actively contribute to emissions reduction and to the development of a more responsible industry in Peru.
