The initiative seeks to expand access to the English language in remote communities with the support of the Kipi robot and its interactive teaching system.
The district of Andaymarca experienced a historic day with the inauguration of the “Learning English with Kipi” project at educational institution No. 31030. This initiative aims to bring English language teaching to students in rural schools through the use of the Kipi robot and its innovative educational software.
Kipi, a robot created by teacher Walter Velásquez, emerged as a response to the challenges of teaching in remote areas, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when distance learning was difficult to implement. Over the last three years, seven units of this robot have visited different schools in Tayacaja, delivering content adapted to the primary school curriculum and in the Quechua language, which facilitated its incorporation into high Andean classrooms and helped to reduce educational gaps.
During the ceremony, the students participated in the first interactive class led by Kipi, exploring new learning methods that sparked enthusiasm and motivation throughout the educational community. As part of the event, materials were also delivered to strengthen the program’s development and support the commitment to inclusive, quality education.
The activity included the lecture “Curiosity, Learning, and Technology: A Journey Toward the Future of Education”, delivered by teacher Walter Velásquez, creator of Kipi. In his speech, he emphasized how technology can become a key ally in reducing educational gaps and opening opportunities for students in remote areas.
“This project reflects our commitment to innovation and academic development. Thanks to Kipi, the students of Andaymarca will be able to learn English interactively, broadening their horizons and preparing for a future with greater opportunities,” said Luis Alburqueque, Social Management Manager of Kallpa Generación.
With the start of this program, Kallpa Generación and the U.S. Embassy reaffirm their commitment to strengthening education in Tayacaja, promoting English language learning through technology and providing students with a transformative experience that connects them with new possibilities from within their own community.
