Products from a local Chilca-based company were featured at the world’s leading mining convention, held in early March in Toronto, Canada. In this edition, leather eyeglass cases crafted by entrepreneur Marlene Demarini were distributed to attendees by Kallpa Generación, an electricity company sponsoring the event.

To fulfill this order, Demarini organized a production team made up of women from the district, strengthening her workshop’s operational capacity while also generating local employment.

Demarini previously participated in the “Mujeres Exitosas” program, an initiative led by Kallpa Generación that promotes training, business development, and financial autonomy for female entrepreneurs in Chilca. This marks the fourth time her products have reached this mining convention, reflecting the continued growth and positioning of her business at a global-level event.

“It is remarkable to see the growth of Marlene Demarini and her company. She has not only formalized her business and set up her own workshop, but she is also creating jobs in the community. She is undoubtedly a great example of success, and we hope to continue supporting entrepreneurs like her,” said Luis Alburqueque, Social Management Manager at Kallpa Generación.

The relationship with Marlene Demarini has strengthened over the years through various initiatives. For example, she also produced leather pencil cases as part of the 2026 School Campaign, an initiative Kallpa carries out annually to support students in the district at the start of the school year.

With this new participation in PDAC 2026, the entrepreneur reaches another milestone in her business growth, consolidating quality standards that allow her to access global platforms and showcase Chilca’s talent internationally.

Kallpa reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the district through a Shared Social Management model that involves the participation of the State, the community, and the private sector.
