The United States Embassy in Peru presented Kallpa Generación with the “Bicentennial of U.S.-Peru Diplomatic Relations” recognition in acknowledgment of its contribution to education in the Huancavelica region.
This distinction recognizes institutions and leaders who strengthen the bilateral cooperation established by both countries in 1826, as part of the commemoration of 200 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Since 2020, Kallpa has supported the “Robot, Kipi” educational project, a pedagogical tool created by local teacher Walter Velásquez. To this day, it continues developing various teaching techniques alongside Kipi in schools surrounding the Cerro del Águila Hydroelectric Power Plant, operated by Kallpa in Huancavelica.
Between 2025 and 2026, the U.S. Embassy and Kallpa also promoted the educational program “Aprendiendo inglés con Kipi.” Together with Velásquez, they got more than 400 students from six schools in Huancavelica to begin learning English by interacting with Kipi, the robot teacher.
Representatives from the U.S. Embassy participated in the event, including Sandra Story, Director of the Regional Office for English Language Programs in the Andean Countries and the Southern Cone; Rosa María Flores-Araoz, CEO of Kallpa Generación; Aldo Defilippi, Executive Director and CEO of Amcham; and Walter Velásquez, creator of the Kipi Robot, among other attendees.
“English is not just a language: it is a bridge to academic exchange, innovation, employment, and full participation in an increasingly interconnected global economy. KIPI demonstrates something fundamental: when we combine technology, quality educational content, and cultural knowledge, we create real opportunities for communities that deserve to be seen and heard,” emphasized Sandra Story, Director of the Regional Office for English Language Programs in the Andean Countries and the Southern Cone.

The recognition given by the United States Embassy to Kallpa Generación, as part of the promotion of education through the project “Aprendiendo inglés con Kipi”, demonstrates how collaboration between institutions can generate real and sustainable changes in people’s lives.
