Tayacaja Native Zaida Ramos Wins the 2026 Callao Half Marathon

Our Huancavelica-born long-distance runner claimed victory with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 8 seconds in the third edition of the competition.

Zaida Ramos, a native of the district of Salcabamba, Tayacaja, was crowned champion of the women’s elite 21-kilometer category at the 2026 Callao Half Marathon, finishing with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 8 seconds.

With this result, Zaida adds another victory to her outstanding career in Peruvian long-distance running, which has been supported for several years by Kallpa Generación, operator of the Cerro del Águila Hydroelectric Power Plant.

In May 2025, she was crowned champion of the Lima 42K Half Marathon, setting a national record of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 5 seconds. In July of that year, she placed fifth in the Bogotá Half Marathon, finishing as the top Latin American competitor in the race. She was subsequently selected to represent Peru at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

“This victory is for everyone from Tayacaja. I run with pride in my homeland, with the support of my family and my coaches, who believe in me,” the champion said after reaching the podium in the competition.

Our national long-distance runner continues to represent her region in events both within Peru and abroad. Zaida Ramos is a source of pride for Tayacaja, Huancavelica, and all of Peru.
