BSF and Kondu inaugurate the first large-scale photovoltaic plant in a logistics condominium in South America

The power plant will generate 1.5 MWp of clean energy to supply the three logistics complex operated by BSF: Portada de Lurín, Villa El Salvador, and Logiscity.

The agreement includes an energy storage system with batteries, optimizing resources and reducing energy costs.

The project operates under the “Energy-as-a-Service” model and is the largest rooftop generation project in Peru, with the potential to expand up to 10 MWp.

BSF Almacenes del Perú and Kondu, a company of the Kallpa Group, have commissioned the first large-scale photovoltaic plant in a logistics condominium in South America. This infrastructure will supply clean energy to the logistics centers Logiscity, Portada de Lurín, and Villa El Salvador operated by BSF, promoting an operating model that prioritizes sustainability and emissions reduction.

The installation takes advantage of rooftops and available spaces to generate electricity through three plants with a total capacity of 1.5 MWp. The project operates under the Energy-as-a-Service model, in which Kondu develops, builds, and operates the plant. With a modular and scalable design, it can adapt to future consumption needs and continue increasing the share of renewable self-consumption within BSF’s logistics operations.

As part of the power plant, more than 2,400 solar panels of 610 Wp have been installed. In its next phases, the project also contemplates the installation of an energy storage system that will allow solar energy to be stored for use at night or whenever operations require it.

“The integration of this photovoltaic plant allows us to operate in a cleaner, more efficient, and more predictable manner, reducing our environmental footprint and that of our clients. At BSF, we seek to anticipate the needs of a market that demands sustainable logistics solutions, and this project shows the direction in which we are moving,” said Rafael Villanueva, Chairman of the Board of BSF Almacenes del Perú.

The agreement between BSF and Kondu also includes a grid power and energy supply contract with 100% renewable energy origin certification for total consumption. This is complemented by the construction of a fast-charging infrastructure hub for BSF vehicles and those of its clients, facilitating their transition to electromobility. Additionally, there is the possibility of expanding the solar plant’s capacity up to 10 MWp.

“At Kondu, we design efficient, sustainable, and competitive energy solutions that meet our clients’ needs. The inauguration of the first large-scale solar photovoltaic plant in a logistics condominium in South America marks a milestone for the industry in Peru and sets the path forward to continue driving more sustainable operations in the country,” highlighted José Tierno, General Manager of Kondu.

Projects of this type represent a milestone in the energy sector, transforming sustainability standards in the operations of leading companies such as BSF, supporting the achievement of their decarbonization goals, with Kondu’s backing and the development of tailored energy solutions for the needs of each industry.
