Cañón del Pato HPP inaugurates school cafeteria in the community of Quitaracza

As part of its social responsibility policy and commitment to education, the Cañón del Pato Hydroelectric Power Plant inaugurated a new school canteen for the benefit of Mariano Melgar School N°86543, located in the community of Quitaracza, district of Yuracmarca.

The construction of the new infrastructure included the implementation of water and sewage services, electrical connections, as well as metal doors and windows, finishes such as polished floors and sidewalks, and the installation of an improved artisan kitchen.

The purpose of this important contribution is to benefit 200 students, providing adequate spaces for the preparation of snacks and food for the schoolchildren of the educational institution, in order to ensure a better quality of life for the entire student community.

The Social Responsibility Manager of the Hydroelectric Power Plant, Luis Alburqueque, pointed out that the social responsibility policy of the company prioritizes important axes of development for the surrounding communities, one of them is the educational axis that, through projects such as this one, contributes to strengthen the training process of children and young people in Ancash.

The inauguration ceremony of the new student cafeteria was held in the presence of teachers and parents of the school, as well as local authorities such as the mayor of the town of Quitaracza, the school principal and representatives of the power company.

“We are grateful for the new dining room that benefits our student community with a suitable environment to serve their food, and the kitchen helps us to prepare food with greater hygiene. Previously, we cooked rustically, in an open space and the students ate in their classrooms,” said Nils Romeo Norabuena Osorio, director of the school.

The project is the result of shared social management between the community of Quitaracza and private enterprise. The Cañón del Pato Hydroelectric Power Plant reaffirms its commitment to continue carrying out actions that contribute to the sustainable development of Quitaracza and the Ancash region.
