Cerro del Águila Hydropower Plant Drives Teacher Capacity Building in Tayacaja Communities

To support the enhancement of education in the Huancavelica region, the Cerro del Águila Hydroelectric Power Plant, operated by Kallpa Generación, organized in coordination with the Tayacaja Local Education Management Unit (UGEL – Tayacaja), a training session for teachers and school principals from its direct area of influence.

The training, titled “Strengthening Pedagogical Competencies of Teachers and Principals,” covered key topics for improving educational practice, including: strategies for developing critical and creative thinking, classroom observation rubrics, emotional management and resilience, curriculum planning, formative assessment and feedback, and universal design for learning.

In total, 81 teachers and principals from early years, primary and secondary levels participated, representing schools from the communities of Andaymarca, Pichiu, Suilloc, Suylloc Quintao, Jatuspata, Llocce Huantaccero, and Capcas—all of which are located in the province of Tayacaja, Huancavelica.

“In Kallpa we believe that education is a fundamental pillar for sustainable development. Which is why we promote spaces like this, which allow teachers to strengthen their competencies and provide better instruction to students in their communities,” said Luis Alburqueque, Social Management Manager at Kallpa.

This initiative highlights the commitment of the Cerro del Águila Hydroelectric Power Plant—operated by Kallpa Generación—to contributing to community development in its operational areas through the promotion of quality education and the ongoing advancement of teaching in rural regions.
