The radio program, starring the Quechua-speaking robot and promoted by Kallpa Generación, launches its second season addressing topics of interest to parents and students in our region.
Kipi, Peru’s first Quechua-speaking robot and a benchmark for educational innovation in Huancavelica, continues to strengthen its social impact through “Kipi on the Radio,” a family-oriented program that launches its second season in 2026, addressing a range of topics of interest to parents and students in the region.
Promoted by Kallpa Generación, operator of the Central Hidroeléctrica Cerro del Águila, the program was conceived as a radio initiative hosted by Huancavelica-born teacher Walter Velásquez. Through interviews and educational segments, it explores topics related to science, technology, and education, integrating these learnings into the everyday life of Huancavelica families.
“In society, we all educate: the bus driver, the market vendor, teachers, authorities, families, and companies. We are all part of education because, just as there are challenges to address, there are also solutions. And it is through education that we can move further forward,” said Walter Velásquez, teacher and host of the program.
Kipi’s story dates back to the pandemic, when it was created by Professor Walter Velásquez to bring education to rural areas of Tayacaja. Built with recycled materials and even transported on the back of a donkey, Kipi became a symbol of creativity and educational innovation in rural settings.
In addition, the reach of the program continues to grow steadily, enabling an increasing number of people—both nationally and internationally—to access it through digital platforms, thereby strengthening its educational and cultural impact.
