Zaida Ramos, from Salcabamba, delivered an outstanding international performance by securing fifth place in the women’s category and becoming the only Latin American representative on the podium.
Ramos, originally from the district of Salcabamba, finished with a time of 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 2 seconds, placing fifth in the elite women’s category and standing out as the sole Latin American athlete on the podium. Her achievement brought pride to her region and Peru in this demanding international competition, held at over 2,600 meters above sea level.
Zaida Ramos, a 24-year-old from Tayacaja, was the best-performing Latin American runner in the Bogotá Half Marathon (21K), held on Sunday, July 27, in Capital of Colombia.
The athlete from Tayacaja expressed her gratitude for the support of her training team and Kallpa, operator of the Cerro del Águila Hydropower Plant, the company that supports her development as a high-performance athlete.
It is worth recalling that Zaida Ramos was previously crowned champion of the Lima 2025 Half Marathon 42K, held on Sunday, May 25, where she set a new national record by completing the 21K in 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 5 seconds.
Currently, the accomplished long-distance runner is preparing for new international competitions, with a clear goal: to continue raising the name of Peru on the world stage.
