The community Kitchen “Niño Jesus”, located in the Chilca district, Cañete providence, has become the first community kitchen to integrate solar energy for its daily operation, thanks to a strategic alliance with the electric company Kallpa Generación.
This project will allow the kitchen to improve its energetic sustainability, optimizing its resources, benefiting 70 families who attend daily.
The implemented photovoltaic system, made up by six solar panels and a battery storage system, will guarantee a secure and efficient energetic supply.
“It’s important to make the most of renewable energy to tend to the community’s need, in this case Chilca; I commend the effort of the Kitchen’s board of directors, and I foresee that this will be an example to follow in other locations at Lima and the country”, declared Luis Alburqueque, Social Management Manager.
This system will provide electric autonomy to the premises, assuring its daily operation without depending on external factors.
Kallpa has provided continuous support to the community kitchen, which is reflected in the handover of the material to renovate its infrastructure, as well as the supply of chairs, tables, a three-burner industrial kitchen, and material destined to better the sanitary conditions. All of this is done with the objective of creating an adequate space that allows the kitchen to attend to the families in an efficient manner and offer them a safe and comfortable environment.
With this action, Kallpa strengthens its compromise of sustainability and innovation, actively contributing to the wellbeing of communities near their operations.
