COMESA reaffirms its commitment to sustainability through the use of Renewable Energy

The company obtained the international I-REC certification, which guarantees that its electricity consumption comes from renewable sources.

In line with its focus on innovation and sustainability in the mining and metalworking sectors, Compañía Minera Industrial S.A. (COMESA) successfully operated throughout 2024 using renewable electricity. This energy was supplied by Kondu through its hydro power plants, which are certified under international standards.

COMESA’s energy consumption was verified through the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) system, a global entity that certifies the renewable origin of electricity and ensures its traceability. This validation process supports the company’s strategy aimed at more sustainable, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations.

As part of this effort, the company received the I-REC certificate within its broader plan to reduce its carbon footprint and strengthen its environmental commitments. The award ceremony was attended by representatives from both organizations: from COMESA, Gustavo Luis Pacheco Figueroa (Operations Manager) and Orlando Oyardo Manrique (Administration and Finance Manager); and from Kondu, Edson Aliaga and Joseph Pujay.

With over 60 years of experience, COMESA has positioned itself as a key partner in the manufacturing of machinery and in providing assembly, maintenance, technical assistance, and spare parts for mineral processing plants across the country. By incorporating customized solutions and efficient technologies, the company has supported major mining operations in Peru, contributing to the development of a more productive, safer, and environmentally respectful industry.

In this way, COMESA strengthens its leadership as a strategic partner of the mining and national industry, integrating sustainability into each of its operations and aligning its efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
